This Sunday is the big PPV although it's following tonight's UFC 129 show so it's really not going to be that big of a deal. Hopefully it will still be a solid show. This my first full review of a show/PPV so forgive me if I'm not the professional yet. Fresh off the disappointing Wrestlemania 27 program, we get a PPV that isn't built well but could be a great show. I will touch each match that has been announced and give my pick. Here we go.
Cody Rhodes vs Rey Mysterio : Falls Count Anywhere
I like the new Cody, he's a fresh character who has a ton of potential although slightly cheesy. I don't watch Smackdown much but what I've seen from him is solid and he believes in his character. The super villain titantron, mask and jacket are a nice touch. As far as the match, it should be good to great. Cody kind of walked into a lot of Rey's moves at Mania so I hope the nerves calm and he can get a better flow going. He needs this win more than Rey but logic would have Rey win here, it's WWE.
winner: Rey Mysterio (although I got Cody)
Michelle McCool vs Layla : Loser Leaves WWE
I'd like to take this opportunity to take a shit. They are breaking up and McCool is leaving to spend time with "the Last Outlaw" Wutev
winner: Layla (they might throw a curve ball but why?)
Randy Orton vs CM Punk : Last Man Standing
Easily a great match on paper but I'm not a fan of LMS matches. Brutal? Maybe. But who wants to see a move, then the 9 count, then a move, then a 9 count? Not me. I hope its paced well too because their last match was slow and not bangin. Orton is the young G.O.A.T.(greatest of all time) and his time has finally come to break away from Captain Rainbow. Punk is a mastermind but his days may be numbered according to the internet sites so they either make him happy or start the burial.
winner: Randal Kieth Orton
Michael Cole & Jack Swagger vs Jim Ross and Jerry the King : Strap Match
Ok, no Daniel Bryan, Wade Barrett, Drew McIntyre, Kofi Kingston, Sheamus, Sin Cara, Dolph Ziggler, R-Truth or Big Show (I'm happy to be honest) and we get this match? Might be taking 2 shits yadig?
winner: Jim Ross and the King (Swagger may turn face but that'll be post match)
Christian vs Alberto Del Rio : Ladder Match for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship
This is why I am paying for the event. 1) Christian could win the World Title for the 1st time in a major promotion. (yes TNA don't count to me) Thats worth the price of admission. I've never been that big of a fan but you have to admit the guy deserves it. He doesn't look like a World Champion but even the Miz main evented a Wrestlemania. I'm paying to see him with. 2) I am also paying to maybe see Alberto Del Rio win. I personally think he deserves it too, not as much but we need new stars and hes a damn star...but you already knew that. His presence alone in a World Title match feel right. He's no Eddie Guererro but he's all we got for now. (I said that like I'm mexican) This match is a win, win.
winner: Captain Charisma (yes WWE will pull the trigger, ADRs time will come)
John Cena vs John Morrison vs The Miz : Steel Cage match for the WWE Title
This match could leave a bad taste. I personally like the Miz. I saw him on Real World and now he's WWE Champion, it's a dope story. I like Morrison when he's in the ring. I like....yes LIKE John Cena because there WILL be energy in the area. Here's what I dont like. Miz is not a good wrestler. Cena is not a good wrestler. Morrison is but he's more of a spot guy. High flyers have their role, and it rarely gives them the win. Theres NO story excpet R-Truth getting involved and costing Morrison the title he was never gonna win. I hope it's better than the main event of Wrestlemania at least.
winner: The Miz
There you have it. 6 matches is plenty but the backstage garb, and extra match maybe and the entrances will fill up 3 hours of entertainment. We will see how entertaining it is very soon. Let me know what you think. Feedback is important. Hopefully we enjoy the show.
