WWE EXTREME RULES REVIEW

Ok, I watched the PPV live with a few friends and some Captain Morgan. We even talked after it and got to see a few matches again since we were just sitting there so the little things I missed the first time around were picked up. I'm gonna go right in.

Randy Orton vs CM Punk : Last Man Standing
It was a great match and having seen it twice I can confirm that. It had a faster pace until the 10 counts took over. Big spot after big spot. The chair/neck/ring post thing was ill, Punks blinding kick to the face outside, RKO on the table, GTS, RKO, crazy kendo stick shots...I could go on. The 2nd rope RKO finish was a great one and ended the feud. The actual feud itself was a fail, Punk never got a single victory and was defeated clean.

**** (great match, slow at times and the wrong guy went over)

Kofi Kingston vs Sheamus : Tables Match for the United States Championship
This was just added the same night and it delivered unexpectedly. Kofi's top rope to table Boom Drop was an impressive finish. It wasn't a pinfall so it doesnt hurt Sheamus necessarily so he can maybe move to the World Title picture. The worked well but the crowd was kinda dead. Kofis offense is ok but his ariel moves are what made it entertaining.

***1/2 (good match, dead crowd...the right guy went over, great ending)

Cody Rhodes vs Rey Mysterio : Falls Count Anywhere
Another good match? This fight was all over the arena but never got old. The Boston Crab through the stair railing was interesting as well as Cody s flying kick off the concession stand. In the ring it got better but Rey got in more offense than he should have. The wrong guy went over again as Rey used some green mist and spit it in Cody s eyes. This lead to Rey's "mixtape" the 619 into the top rope splash. (Mixtape aka finishing sequence)

***3/4 (good match with good spots, again the wrong guy went over but the end wasnt bad)

Michael Cole & Jack Swagger vs Jim Ross and Jerry the King : Country Whipping Match
Ok this is why people turn their nose at wrestling or "entertainment." This goofy shit is gettin old. I didn't have to take a shit so i sat through it. It wasnt a disaster but I definiently dont plan on waisting anymore words on it.

N/A (ridiculous)

Michelle McCool vs Layla : Loser Leaves WWE
I decided not to take a shit again long enough to enjoy the best woman's match I've personally paid attention to in a while. They had good chemistry and tried to put some heart into it. Layla got the win so McCool can go makes some little "outlaws." Post match, Kharma debuted and destroyed McCool. She laughed hard then stopped and had this scary laughing music. The debut was **** in itself.

**1/2 (Nothing else to say except Kharma is a bitch)

Christian vs Alberto Del Rio : Ladder Match for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship
Easily match of the night. Christian winning the World Title with Edge ringside for the hug and tears was epic shit. I woulda shed a tear if I had some...uh...what do you call them? Emotions? Anyway, great ladder match. Del Rio is a star and played his role well. Some decent spots but nothing OMG you gotta see this. It was simply a great match with the best ending of the year.

****1/2 (Well deserved victory after all these years, your new champion, Christian)

Wade Barrett and Ezekiel Jackson vs Big Show and Kane : Lumberjack Match for the Tag Team Titles
Here we have the set up for the Jackson/Corre feud as Big Zeke had it won until Wade got cocky and tagged in leading to a chokeslam. Nothing match that I barely remember. Took another shot

N/A (Nothing really happened except Zeke body slammed Big Show again then they lost)

John Cena vs John Morrison vs The Miz : Steel Cage match for the WWE Title
I was wrong about this match, it was great. I botched the result though but I see why Cena won, so he can confront The Rock with the title. Makes sense to me. As for the match, Morrison GOT OFF! Miz played his part well but there comes a time in a superstars life where he loses the WWE Title and Miz is not exempt. His reign was what it was and wasn't that bad if you look at how long he had it and the fact that he walked out Mania with it. Enter R-Truth. He came out to cost Morrison the title, he also attacked Cena and climbed the cage showing he should have won the title. Super Cena laid of Miz with a top rope AA and that was it, 10 time champion.

**** (Good spots, well played, great addition of R-Truth and the right guy went over when you think about the next nights plans)

All in all I enjoyed the show. A solid 7.5/10 for the whole show when you factor in there was no REAL shockers. Just another well planned show. I'd also like to mention R-Truth is playing his role perfectly. PLUG!! Check out theinfamousjcity.wordpress.com, thejohnreport.net and of course youtube.com/user/tikayoh3000

  1. I agree with all of this. I liked the PPV. It's one of the few I didn't watch live but I wish I did. Thanks for the plug, I just put this site on my blogroll hopefully that can get some traffic over here.
